I either saw an ad after applying for the Alaskaman lottery, both of which I believed to be a pipe dream and long shot. I thought it was exciting and intriguing after barely finishing my first Ironman. There was little information about the race that first year and I had no idea what to expect which was half the adventure!

This is a great ironman distance race meets Adventure Racing for those who don’t want to swim, bike, and run in circles with thousands of other people. Pick your support as someone you want to share the experience with and expect to be rural with not a lot of access to extra supplies. The bike can be a little rough and windy, and the run is all dirt through the farmlands and mountains.
